Nació en Londres

Born Valerie Jane Morris-Goodall in London, England, she developed an early fascination with animals, inspired by childhood dreams of living among Africa's wildlife. In 1960, at age 26, she traveled to what is now Tanzania to study wild chimpanzees in Gombe Stream National Park, initially under the guidance of anthropologist Louis Leakey. Without formal scientific training at the time, Goodall revolutionized primatology through patient, immersive observation. Her groundbreaking discoveries—that chimpanzees make and use tools, hunt cooperatively, display complex social behaviors including warfare and empathy, and exhibit distinct personalities—challenged long-held beliefs about the uniqueness of human intelligence and behavior.

Obituario

Dame Jane Goodall DBE, the world-renowned primatologist whose 60+ years of chimpanzee research transformed our understanding of animal intelligence and humanity's place in nature, died peacefully on October 1, 2025, at the age of 91 in California. Born April 3, 1934, in London, she founded the Jane Goodall Institute and Roots & Shoots, becoming one of the 20th and 21st centuries' most influential voices for conservation, animal welfare, and environmental hope. Her gentle persistence and profound insights will continue to guide generations toward a more compassionate world.
